Alan Pardew has made a career of starting fast at new clubs. He made a positive impact in his first year or so at both Crystal Palace and Newcastle, before the trouble started brewing. At West Brom, so far, he hasn’t had that desired impact, which is a huge worry when looking at the Premier League table. At the time of writing, the Baggies have slipped into bottom three.
In Pardew’s defence, he has only had two games in charge, three by the weekend, and he will hope to make it fourth time lucky. Manchester United and his old friend Jose Mourinho are the visitors to the Hawthorns this weekend, with the Red Devils themselves keen to put an unsavoury afternoon and defeat in the Manchester Derby. They’ll have hosted Bournemouth by the time they travel to the West Midlands, but that game will still be fresh in their minds. With Romelu Lukaku facing a former club in desperate need of a goal, we are backing the Belgian to lead the charge to a comfortable away win.
STUNNING WILLIAM HILL OFFER
United have been far from convincing in recent weeks, and most of their problems have come away from home. That will obviously encourage West Brom, as will the fact that all of United’s losses in the Premier League this season have come without Paul Pogba. The Frenchman will serve the final game of his three-match ban at the Hawthorns, having been sent off in the win in their last away trip at Arsenal. Breaking the wall built by David de Gea proved a huge challenge for the Gunners, and it will do so again for the hosts at the weekend.
At the time of writing, before West Brom face a tough trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, they are among the lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 12. That is just one more than United have conceded, which is a huge reason why they are struggling without a win in ten games. Even though he has just arrived, it will not take long for the pressure to grow on Pardew if he cannot pull them away from danger, and he will bemoan the tough set of fixtures he is facing right now.

As mentioned above, Pogba misses out for the final time through suspension, but Jose Mourinho has no fresh concerns as of yet. Romelu Lukaku spent a year on loan at West Brom five years ago, and having scored a few goals back then and since on his returns with Everton, he may well see it as an opportunity to find the net and silence some critics. Ander Herrera should start in centre midfield alongside Nemanja Matic with Marouane Fellaini also a doubt.
Pardew has been picking attacking line ups lately to try and fix West Brom’s goalscoring issues but it backfired against Swansea. He also has no fresh concerns.
