UFC returns in the early hours of Sunday morning with an excellent card where Dennis Bermudez is the marginal favourite to beat the ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.
Bermudez lost to Jeremy Stevens in an epic battle at UFC 189, but has won his last two fights by unanimous decision and it is perhaps because the New York slugger has been more active of late that the online bookmakers make him a 4/6 favourite to get the win, with his Korean challenger available to back at 6/4.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship Featherweight title challenger Chan Sung “The Korean Zombie” Jung is finally done with his mandatory military service, returning to the cage this Saturday evening (Sunday morning GMT), inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Following an extended period of three and a half years away from the sport, Chan Sung Jung could be forgiven for showing some rust, but at his best he is a very high level 145lb fighter and he may be the value UFC betting tip. Waiting for him is fellow slugger Dennis Bermudez, also eager for another shot at the 145-pound elite in what should develop into an exciting main event.
At UFC 163 the Korean Zombie challenged Jose Aldo for the featherweight title, but succumbed to a flurry from the great champion to lose by TKO. But this was in hostile territory for Jung, at an event hosted in Aldo’s capital city of Rio De Janeiro. He won his previous three fights in the UFC promotion, not notably a D’arce choke victory over Dustin Poirier, so we know he has the ground game to back up a high level striking game.
We’ve seen it many times in recent times, fighters showing a real benefit for a break from the sport and the Korean Zombie is just the type to come back strong. This promises to be a very interesting fight but at odds of 6/4 with Coral it is worth taking a chance on a minor upset.
