Tottenham vs Manchester City preview, betting tips and prediction: Can City bounce back from their derby humiliation?
Score draw @ 3/1 with Betfair
Manchester City have bee unstoppable this season; so much so that the discussion surrounding Pep Guardiola’s side centred more on how many records they could break than how many trophies they could win. They have been a joy to watch all season, with very few teams able to lay a glove on them at all in any competition. Now, though, they face a Tottenham side unbeaten in 2018, having themselves lost twice in a week. Those defeats were not insignificant either; the first one came at Anfield as Liverpool won 3-0 in the Champions League quarter final, and then they were humiliated by rivals Manchester United, losing 3-2 at home having led 2-0 at half time. To make matters worse, that defeat surrendered their chance of wrapping up the Premier League title at the earliest point ever. Now, they head to Wembley knowing that even a win won’t guarantee their crown, because United, who are second, face West Brom a day later. Victory is far from guaranteed, either, because Mauricio Pochettino’s men top the form table for this calendar year and are without a defeat since City overpowered them at the Etihad Stadium in December. Pochettino has previous over Guardiola, too, having handed him his first defeat in English football at White Hart Lane last season. Rather frustratingly for City, we think this one will be a draw and their wait to be confirmed as champions will continue.
City’s form has nosedived within the space of a week, but they had been going strong immediately before that, having won five straight Premier League games.
