It has been a dire season for Swansea this year, with manager Paul Clement only saved from intense pressure because of heroics in successfully battling relegation last season. But a huge win over fellow strugglers West Brom on Saturday, only their third of the season, has given them a much needed boost. With runaway leaders Manchester City next through into the Liberty Stadium away dressing room on Wednesday, that victory could hardly be better timed. But that won’t make it any easier to face Pep Guardiola’s men.
At the time of writing, City have not yet taken on Manchester United in their top of the table clash. But they are still looking unassailable despite losing their first game of the season last week at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. They may not be as strong as earlier in the season on the surface, in the way they are not scoring four or five goals per game, but they have shown a steely mentality to win games late on. We can’t see anything other than an away win here.
Things are slowly looking up for Swansea, and not just because of the three points against West Brom. Wilfred Bony returned to the club from Manchester City for over half the price he was sold for. Injury problems have halted his progress in his second spell, but a goal in the defeat at another of his former clubs, Stoke, and the winner against West Brom may just kickstart his season. He will definitely be keen to show City what they are missing, but one win in recent weeks is not enough, they must continue to improve as a team.
STUNNING CORAL OFFER!
Pep Guardiola rested a number of players for the loss at Shakhtar, but they were opened up far too easily on the counter attack. Swansea have something to grab on to, but the visitors will be strong and could need the points to keep a sizeable gap to the chasing pack. Given they haven’t so much as drawn in the league since August, it is hard to look past Guardiola’s side winning. It could go to the wire, but their attacking options mean they will be a threat from minute one to minute 90.
Swansea don’t have any fresh injury problems for this game, but they are still likely to leave Tammy Abraham on the bench. They will need to stay compact and playing two strikers will compromise that. Bony can lead the line alone and give them a focal point and an outlet to relieve pressure. Luciano Narsingh and Nathan Dyer could play with their pace.

With Sergio Aguero likely to face Manchester United, Grabriel Jesus could come in at the Liberty Stadium, but City will be without John Stones. Fabian Delph could play at left back in place of the recovering Benjamin Mendy.
