Swansea vs Chelsea preview, betting tips and prediction
Carlos Carvalhal will know the importance of three points
Chelsea to win to nil @ 6/5 with Coral
Swansea City’s Premier League status looked dead in the water just before Christmas, but Carlos Carvalhal’s immediate impact after replacing Paul Clement gave them hope of a revival; three months on, they find themselves out of the bottom three by four points and one place. Southampton, the side directly below them, have a must win game at home against Bournemouth earlier on Saturday, so by the time the Swans are welcoming Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium that evening, the gap could be down to one point.
Antonio Conte’s men looked desperate hts a matter of weeks ago, with just three league wins in this calendar year. Champions League football may still be unlikely, with a five-point gap between themselves and Tottenham after their recent win at Stamford Bridge, but with Spurs not playing until Monday, Conte will want to put the pressure on them. The Blues have won their last three games, including the FA Cup semi final against Southampton last week; Eden Hazard was excellent at Wembley on Sunday, and he should inspire a crucial win for his side in South Wales.
Conte says Olivier Giroud has been a very good signing and he is pleased for both the Frenchman and Alvaro Morata. He adds the fact they can play together, like they did at Burnley, gives him another option. #CHESOU— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) April 22, 2018
In terms of other bets, there is really only one place to look. Olivier Giroud scored three goals against Southampton, two in the league and one in the FA Cup, and he is beginning to look right at home in a Chelsea shirt. Alvaro Morata came off the bench to score late on but he had a rough time against Burnley and went on to miss some other golden opportunities. Giroud should start and is at 7/5 to score anytime with Coral, but if you have any doubts, Hazard is a safe option at the same price.
