Manchester United may have avoided ties with the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16, but they cannot afford to take a Sevilla side with obvious European pedigree. United may be the current holders of the Europa League, but their opponents did win three in a row prior to that and five in all since 2006. The worst thing the Red Devils can do is take them lightly, though that is certainly not in Jose Mourinho’s make up.
Although he has just signed a new contract at Old Trafford, Mourinho has been feeling the pressure a little lately. A reported rift with Paul Pogba has been an unnecessary distraction, while they are still trailing neighbours City by quite a distance in the Premier League. Sevilla had a tough spell earlier on this season, but they have since improved their form since replacing Eduardo Berizzo with former Milan boss Vincenzo Montella.

Manchester United beat Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Saturday evening to reach the quarter finals, but they are still reeling from that defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park a week gone Sunday. Mourinho’s men are facing a battle with both Liverpool, and Chelsea for second place, while Tottenham, who beat them at Wembley recently, are not out of the race either.

Sevilla may be underachieving judging on their league performances in the last few years, but Montella’s men are still three points behind Real Madrid in fourth place, though Zinedine Zidane’s side have two games in hand.
Paul Pogba may not return from illness, but United have no fresh injury concerns. Seb Corchia, Simon Kjaer and Nolito are doubtful for Sevilla.
