Everton were flying high in the Premier League until last weekend when they lost to Bournemouth for the first time ever. It seems as though a midweek defeat to Norwich in the League Cup knocked the wind out of their sails. That round of applause for Steven Naismith’s opener looks a touch silly in hindsight. Home fans certainly won’t clap for the visitors on Friday night.
The Toffees will be up against an in-form Crystal Palace side. It’s been a long time since we described the Eagles as that but with three wins on the bounce, they’re in seventh and a win could see them leapfrog Ronald Koeman’s side. The Dutchman won’t be having that.
He was clearly annoyed by the manner in which his team went down to the Cherries last weekend. They had chances but weren’t clinical enough. On their own patch, he’ll want them to show hunger and desire against a physical Palace side. We expect goals at both ends.
