Chelsea v Man United Betting tipsPublished October 20, 2016
It’s another big Premier League fixture for both Manchester United and Chelsea this weekend. The Blues are once again at home having comfortably disposed of Leicester at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, while United, after emerging from Anfield with a point, travel to London. It’s not been a happy hunting ground for the Red Devils for a long time.
Although, it must be said, their manager has a good record at the Bridge. That’s right, it’s Jose Mourinho first game against his former club since being sacked by them last year. Their fans are the ones who felt truly aggrieved after seeing him take up a job with their Premier League rivals. It’s left a smudge on his Chelsea legacy but it would surprising if he was given a bad reception, particularly after all the tutting that was made when Foxes booed N’Golo Kante last week.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic acknowledged that United haven’t clicked yet after the draw against Liverpool. The Swede has gone off the boil after initially hitting the ground running in a red shirt. His fellow new signing Paul Pogba hasn’t set the stage alight yet either, delivering another underwhelming shift in that stalemate. It prompted Mourinho to warn that nobody was undroppable.
But is that a threat that he’s willing to follow through with? It would be very surprising to see United without either player on Sunday. Perhaps a fit Anthony Martial will make up for any perceived straggling on the part of the away side. One player who should be undroppable for Mourinho is Ander Herrera. The midfielder showed his quality once again with a conductor’s display against Jurgen Klopp’s men. They’ll need him to make things tick.
Chelsea fans should try not to get too carried away with the win over Leicester. After all, teams have been sweeping them aside all season, including United. This was a rested Leicester with Mahrez and Slimani on the bench so it’s hard to know how much we should read into it. Then again, you can only beat what’s put in front of you. Eden Hazard is in form, Diego Costa is on fire and Herrera will be matched by Chelsea’s own orchestrator in Kante.
Predicted Chelsea team: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill, Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Costa, Hazard
Predicted United team: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Blind, Herrera, Pogba, Fellaini, Rashford, Ibrahimovic, Martial
