Two teams in good form meet on Sunday for what should be a genuinely super affair. The Saints have found a good vein in recent weeks after struggling to get the results they deserved in the first few weeks of Claude Puel’s reign. They were unlucky to not win at Inter Milan last Thursday, let alone come away with nothing. Puel will expect a positive result in the return fixture.
He’ll also be hopeful that his Saints can beat Chelsea. Antonio Conte’s Blues have turned a corner since being thrashed at the Emirates in September. It’s ridiculous that there were rumours that his job was under threat. His players have adapted surprisingly well to a 3-4-3 formation. They’ll be keen to follow up a thrashing of Man United with another win.
Away from home, there’s a lot to be desired from Conte’s boys. They’ve only won one of their last five fixtures away from Stamford Bridge, not counting the extra-time victory over Leicester City in the League Cup. Chelsea will be without Cesc Fabregas while Southampton will hope that Shane Long is available to test their three at the back.
