Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Betting Predictions – Back a Draw at 16/5 with Coral
Once again Liverpool face a tough task at home against an organised side at the bottom of the Premier League. The Reds have tended to struggle in these kind of games, and opponents Crystal Palace have been better on the road than at home this season, recently beating league leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds are unbeaten in seven games and have won their last two away, but they will be keen to better the result in their last game at Anfield, when they drew 2-2 with Bournemouth. A narrow victory over Burnley recently does not suggest Liverpool will hit their top level against Palace, and Sam Allardyce will have his game plan set out.
Liverpool put pressure on the ball high up the pitch, attempting to suffocate the defence and close in on their opponents. If they win the ball from there, the movement of their midfield and attack means they cause real problems, but Allardyce will counter this by expecting long balls up to former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, who can then hold the ball up and bring others into play, notably pacey wingers Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend.
Zaha netted his sixth goal of the season against Chelsea and has been in fantastic form this term. Allardyce will look to exploit a perceived weakness in the home side by making the Ivorian go one on one with Alberto Moreno, the Liverpool left back. The introduction of further pace late on in the game, particularly in central areas, could come in the shape of Jason Puncheon. With Jordan Henderson still absent through injury, there will be space to run at the Reds back line, and the likes of Yohan Cabaye in the Palace midfield will not penetrate it on a regular basis.
A huge blow for Palace is the absence of Mamadou Sakho, the French centre back who was so influential against Chelsea the last time they were faced with such high pressure. He is on loan from Liverpool and cannot face his parent club.
