Chelsea are closing in on another Premier League title, but the fact they have to travel to Goodison Park means clinching it is far from certain despite their tag of heavy favourites. The Blues have not enjoyed trips to Everton in recent times; losing two of their last three visits. Even their victory was in a 6-3 thriller they didn’t always look like taking the points from.
Although Antonio Conte’s men secured a place in the FA Cup final last weekend, they have been struggling for their best form over the last few weeks. Teams are beginning to work out how to face their 3-4-3 formation which has taken them to the brink of this success. Against Everton, they will come up against former player and reported transfer target Romelu Lukaku, who tops the Premier League goalscoring charts with 24 goals this season.

With the Belgian in full swing, and the weaknesses emerging in the Blues defence, it is likely he will score but under Conte, Chelsea have been extremely efficient and well drilled and should get the win, having lost just once on the road all season. Backing both teams to score is definitely a good bet here.
Ronald Koeman’s men have lost just once at home, to city rivals Liverpool, so victory would go a long way to showing Chelsea are deserved champions. The Toffees’ ability to cut teams open is their greatest strength, because of their strong midfield and Lukaku’s ability to run in behind defences despite being built like a target man.

But Chelsea are perhaps best positioned to counter that threat of Everton. Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin are able to keep the ball and dicate the tempo of the game while getting the ball forward via Ross Barkley, who has been in excellent form cutting in from wide areas this season. But N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic shut that space off, which could force the home side into looking for Lukaku with long balls over the top.
There will also be less space for Eden Hazard to run into for the same reason, so Conte could look to play on the counter attack as he did against West Ham earlier in the season. That could be a dangerous game if Lukaku gets a run at the defence, but betting on Chelsea has been sensible throughout the campaign and should be here too.
