Chelsea v Man Utd Betting Predictions | Back a Home Win at 17/5 with BetfairPublished March 13, 2017
When Jose Mourinho last returned to Stamford Bridge at Manchester United boss, his side were humiliated by a 4-0 defeat. Pedro’s goal within 30 seconds set the tone on that day and while a repeat is very unlikely, Chelsea will still have to be made favourites for Premier League betting.
Having beaten West Ham on Monday night, the Blues are now 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League. The main reason behind their immense dominance is their system, and few teams have got to grips with Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation. Eden Hazard and Pedro are given the freedom to run riot in attack, supporting Diego Costa in attack, because Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso are in behind at wingback. They both push forward in attack, when the wingers cut inside, or track the wingers when defending.

The three central defenders can take more risks, too, stretching themselves to double up with the wingbacks. This is because both N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic sit deep in the middle. Chelsea’s system is so adaptable, they do not change the way they play regardless of who or where they are playing. Expect direct passing in behind Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera and Hazard looking to get one one one with the centre backs.
It is a little tougher to see how United will play. At the time of writing, they still have a tough Europa League game with Russian side Rostov to come, and they may well be jaded by the time they face Chelsea. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been struggling with a hamstring problem recently, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended. Ibrahimovic has scored 26 goals this season and without him, the Red Devils will lack the presence in the final third to hurt the Blues.
Marcus Rashord and Anthony Martial have the pace to get in behind, but there won’t be enough opportunities to do so if Chelsea control the game as they have done so often this season. You may find a great opportunity to back Chelsea on this one with odds as great as 17/5 through a betfair free bet.
