Lyon were flying high before Gus Poyet came to town. Not their town. Bordeaux. The former Chelsea player was appointed as Bordeaux manager right before they hosted Lyon. This was the same Lyon that had recorded back-to-back wins over PSG and Monaco. In hindsight, maybe they were due a bad result. Arsenal and Spurs target Malcom got the memo and was among the scorers as Bordeaux downed Lyon 3-1. They remain in second place but Marseille, in third, are now level on points while reigning champions Monaco are a point behind in fourth.

Monaco found the going tough against a foe growing in strength last weekend, that foe being the aforementioned Marseille. Having previously scored at least four against Les Olympians in their last three meetings, Monaco could only manage to find the back of the net twice and had to settle for a point at the Velodrome.

The obvious market to go for here is the goals market. The last five meetings between these two giants of French football have produced an incredible 24 goals combined. The last clash came quite recently and saw Lyon triumph with a 3-2 win in the Coupe de France. They came from behind to win that game and will expect to concede once again in what should be an exciting punch-for-punch encounter in Ligue 1 this weekend.
