Can Stoke end Liverpool’s unbeaten home record?

Mohamed Salah has been the talk of the town all season, but even his popularity reached a new level on Tuesday evening. His brace helped Liverpool to a 5-2 win over Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semi final, taking his total to 43 goals for the season. That performance against his former club has the Reds smelling a sixth European crown, but it is back to the bread and butter of the Premier League on Saturday, with a home game against relegation-threatened Stoke.
Paul Lambert’s men are four points adrift of safety and are staring down the barrel of playing Championship football for the first time in a decade next season. Most concerning for them is how they surrendered leads against West Ham and Burnley, fully in the knowledge that winning those games could have been the springboard for survival. They head to Anfield looking to end the only unbeaten home run in the league, but it doesn’t look for them at all. We’re backing a comfortable home win.

The Reds have been scoring goals for fun all season, particularly on their home patch. Salah has now scored in ten games in a row at Anfield, but with that crunch second leg in Rome on Jurgen Klopp’s mind, he may be rested against Stoke at the weekend. With four league goals to go until he equals the record of most scored in a season, he will not want to miss out, but betting on him in the goalscoring markets could be risky. Roberto Firmino, who netted a brace against Roma too, could also be rested. Sadio Mane anytime at 17/10 with Betfair seems a safer option.
