Whether Liverpool have had a good week or a bad week is completely subjective. Although their star man, Philippe Coutinho, left the club and signed for Barcelona, the Reds were able to make a profit of near £140million in the five years the Brazilian lit up Anfield. Attention will soon turn to finding a replacement, but they could hardly start their post-Coutinho era in a tougher fashion. Manchester City are the visitors to Merseyside on Sunday afternoon.
CORAL HAVE YOU COVERED
Jurgen Klopp will hope to continue his rather impressive record in the big games at home, having beaten City last season. But Pep Guardiola’s side have not lost domestically since April and should prove too strong in this one.
Liverpool began life without Coutinho, unofficially, in the FA Cup by beating Everton last week. Their big January signing, Virgil van Dijk, netted the winner in that one. In the Premier League, they are still going strong, winning three of their last five games, drawing the other and scoring 16 goals. They currently sit fourth in the league.
BACK THIS CORAL OFFER
For City, it is hard not to run out of adjectives. Their lead at the top of the table stands at 15 points and they have only dropped four all season, winning 20 of their 22 games so far. The draw at Crystal Palace ended their hopes of a European record for consecutive wins, but they still look absolutely imperious.
Van Dijk will make his first Premier League appearance for the Reds and, crucially, top scorer Mohamed Salah could return to the side after a spell out through injury.
Guardiola has no fresh injury concerns ahead of this game, with Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus still out.
