The third round of the FA Cup is a special time in any season, but it will be even more so on Merseyside on Friday night when Everton face Liverpool at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp and Sam Allardyce may have hoped to avoid one another at this early stage, but a derby mixed in with the magic of the cup could be the perfect recipe for a classic.

Although the Toffees have lost a couple of games in the past week or so, they have been strong under Allardyce, even grabbing an unlikely point in the last Premier League clash between these sides. But we think this will end with the home side progressing to the next round.
Liverpool enjoyed a successful end to 2017, scoring a lot of goals thanks to the likes of Mohamed Salah, who has netted 23 in all competitions this season. They are currently fourth after a last gasp win over Burnley on New Year’s Day, and have not lost since November when Spurs beat them 4-1 at Wembley.

Immediately after he arrived, Allardyce solved Everton’s defensive issues and gave Wayne Rooney the confidence to pick up his form. Two defeats and a draw in three games has put a negative spin on things, but the previous worries about relegation are no more.
Liverpool will be without captain Jordan Henderson until February after he suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-3 draw at Arsenal just before Christmas. Salah may also not make it after missing the Burnley game, with Philippe Coutinho also a doubt.
Everton will be missing Davey Klaasen and Idrissa Gueye while this game could come too soon for Seamus Coleman, but they have no fresh concerns.
