Argentina v Brazil Betting Predictions | Back Argentina to Win at 9/2 with BetfairPublished June 07, 2017
On Friday, South America’s purest football rivalry resumes when Argentina and Brazil clash in an end of season friendly in Melbourne, Australia. Both nations are known the world over for the many superstars of football betting they have produced over the years, and their current squads are no different.
Although Brazil will not be at their very strongest, with the likes of Barcelona’s Neymar, Marcelo, fresh from winning the Champions League with Real Madrid last week and Liverpool star Roberto Firmino have all been left out, but that could afford an opportunity for Manchester City youngster Gabriel Jesus, who has impressed so many in the Premier League this season, to lead the line for the Selecao.

Argentina, though, have opted for a much stronger squad, with new boss Jorge Sampaoli looking for the best start to his La Albiceleste career after leaving Sevilla. Gonzalo Higuain is included, despite playing for Juventus in the Champions League final, as are captain Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Javier Mascherano and Angel Di Maria. Sergio Aguero, who suffered some injury problems towards the end of his season with Manchester City has been left out, with Inter captain Mauro Icardi likely to step into his boots.
Judging by the squad strength, and the impact that could be made by Sampaoli in replacing Eduardo Bauza, Argentina must be made favourites. Looking at Brazil’s form, though, it could be a different matter. They have won each of their last six games, including a 3-0 win over Argentina in World Cup qualification back in November. Argentina have lost three of their last six, and are nine points and five places behind their opponents, who lead the table, in the race for Russia.

It is tough to say just how much of a difference between the squads there will be, but backing a highly entertaining encounter definitely has some value. Argentina are at 9/2 to win with both teams to score with Betfair bookmakers, and that is our international friendly betting tip.
Brazil are 24/5 and the score draw is 10/3, and if you believe it could be a tight affair, both sides are at the same odds as with BTTS when it comes to draw HT/win FT.
One final offer that is definitely worth some value is Argentina to win with over 2.5 goals at 17/5 with Coral, provided Sampaoli can fit as much of the attacking talent at his disposal in his team at possible.
Paulo Dybala vs Thiago Silva
It is tough to predict the line ups, but this game could be an opportunity for two of football’s biggest names to star for very different reasons. Former Brazil captain Thiago Silva is back in the squad for the first time in two years, while Dybala is still waiting for his big break on the international scene despite starring for Juventus since 2015.
With Messi once again thriving away from central areas, there is room for a conventional striker and Dybala most fits the bill. Higuain and Icardi are more likely to hold the ball up, while Dybala uses space in a similar way to Messi, and the movement of that pair could be the key to an Argentina victory. His low centre of gravity could prove key up against the ageing Silva.
