England vs Belgium preview, betting tips and prediction
Win and England top Group G…
Score draw @ 16/5 with Betfair
England face Belgium in Kaliningrad knowing a win will see them top Group G, but this game is far from straightforward. Both sides have costed through the games against Tunisia and Panama and, as it stands, amazingly, only one yellow card in England’s favour will decide the group if the game ends in a draw. If that ends level then there will be a drawing of lots to decide the order; it is that tight. The Three Lions will be confident going into the game having recorded their biggest ever World Cup win last week, beating Panama in Nizhny Novgorod 6-1. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, and he is one goal ahead of Romelu Lukaku in the Golden Boot race. But we see this game ending in a draw.
Belgium demolished Tunisia in their second game after an unconvincing performance in their first against Panama. But the 5-2 victory saw some defensive frailties exposed and England could cause some real problems with their pace. There is an argument that whoever finishes second will face an easier route through the tournament, avoiding Brazil or Germany in the quarter finals, which is predicted for the winner of the group. Both teams will be sure to put in a professional performance in what promises to be an intriguing match up.
Obviously this game is being billed as Kane vs Lukaku, as so many Premier League games have been over the years, but there are so many other attacking options on the pitch for both sides. After he failed to end his near three-year wait for an England goal against Panama, Raheem Sterling could make way for Marcus Rashford, who can be found at 5/2 to score anytime. Our Belgium tip is Eden Hazard at 12/5.
