Paul Clement is fondly remembered at Stamford Bridge; the former PE teacher went from loyal coach to assistant manager in 2009 under Carlo Ancelotti. The pair led the Blues to a league and FA Cup double in their first season, and when Ancelotti was sacked in 2011, he kept in touch with Clement before taking him around Europe, to PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
In the middle of all that, Clement had a spell in charge at Derby. He was harshly treated with his sacking and that persuaded Swansea to give him a go. Now in his first full season at the Liberty Stadium, the Englishman heads back to Stamford Bridge for the second time. When he faces Antonio Conte’s men, though, he will be under immense pressure; the Swans have only won twice this campaign and find themselves in the bottom three. Chelsea will be as professional as always, they clinging on to their Premier League crown and need all the points they can get to keep within touching distance of leaders Manchester City.
We are backing the Blues to pile the misery on Clement on Wednesday night.
GREAT LADBROKES OFFER
Swansea may not have won any of their last six games, but Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Bournemouth did stop the rot of five defeats. Despite signing Wilfred Bony back from Manchester City, not to mention bringing in Renato Sanches on loan from Bayern Munich, the Swans have really struggled with creating and scoring goals. They are the Premier League’s lowest scorers with just seven goals from 13 games, but they are much stronger defensively than those around them, which is why we think Chelsea may have to be patient in this game.
The Blues have had a mixed start to the season, with some real highs and lows. Since their 3-0 defeat in Rome in the Champions League, Conte’s men have been in brilliant form in front of goal. Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard are quite clearly on the same wavelength, and Cesc Fabregas made a real difference when he came on in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday night.

David Luiz has still not found his way back into the Chelsea side since his nightmare in Rome and Victor Moses is set to miss out again with hamstring trouble. Davide Zappacosta is growing into the right wing-back role for the Blues and she should continue there for the foreseeable future. With Tiemoue Bakayoko struggling for form, Fabregas may well start in central midfield alongside N’Golo Kante, while Saturday’s goalscorer Willian may be in line to start.
Tammy Abraham has been a bright spark for Swansea this season, but he will be unavailable to play against his parent club, having only joined Swansea on loan in the summer. Leroy Fer is at risk of suspension, with four yellow cards to his name currently.
