Levante are on cloud nine after beating Barça

Few escapes have been as great as Levante’s, the relegation-threatened side who avoided the drop by becoming the form team in La Liga. And even after their safety was long secured, they turned on the style in jaw-dropping fashion for Barcelona’s trip down the coast.

Emmanuel Boateng went into the game with three goals all season and doubled his tally for the campaign as Levante raced into a 5-1 lead. The fifth goal immediately woke up Barcelona and they clawed back the deficit to 5-4 but couldn’t get the equaliser to save their unbeaten season.

It makes one wonder what Levante are capable of next season, assuming they remember how well they performed when they really had to. Assuming that they don’t wait until they’re in danger before they start playing. A win against Celta, who were destroyed 6-0 by Real Madrid last weekend, could move them several places up the table.
