Brazil vs Mexico preview, betting tips and prediction
Will Neymar or Lozano shine?
Brazil to win and BTTS @ 27/10 with Coral
Brazil and Mexico face off in the last 16 of the World Cup on Monday in Samara. The Selecao came into the tournament as favourites and have lived up to that billing in terms of results by winning Group E, but they are yet to convince in terms of results. Neymar and Philippe Coutinho have impressed sporadically, with the latter top scoring for his country on four goals, but they have not been nearly as swashbuckling as they were under Tite in qualification at times. Seeing both Germany and Argentina exit the competition already will provide them with a real boost but they simply cannot underestimate this Mexico team, who beat the world champions in their first game.
But for their manager, Juan Carlos Osorio, the defeat against Sweden last week proved very costly. Had they avoided a loss they would have won the group comfortably, but they suffered and went down 3-0. As a result, they now face Brazil instead of Switzerland, an opponent who would have given them a better chance on power of breaking ‘the curse of the fifth game’, which refers to their inability to get past the last 16 of a World Cup in 24 years. They have Hirving Lozano, a breakout star of the tournament so far, and they will be a threat, but we think they will lose and that wait for a quarter final appearance will go on.
There is a lot of value in the goslsciring markets in this one. Gabriel Jesus was expected to shine in this tournament, but he has not scored yet. For him to live up to the billing, he needs to make an impression sooner or later, and we are backing him to score anytime in this one, at 6/4 with Coral.
