Chris Eubank Jnr takes another step on the pro boxing ladder on Saturday night and is an overwhelming favourite with the bookmakers to beat the IBO Super Middleweight champion and Australian native Renold Quinlan, in an event which will be shown on ITV pay per view.
Ladbrokes are offering skinny odds of 1/33 on Chris Eubank Jnr to win, with Renold Quinlan a 16/1 underdog in what appears to be a lopsided affair on paper, so once again we look to the Total Rounds markets for a boxing bet in this match.
Renold Quinlan is out to prove he is the ‘Road Warrior’ of world boxing, by flying 12,000 miles to the ‘bear pit’ of London’s Olympia Arena to defend his IBO super-middleweight title against a fast improving Chris Eubank Jnr.
The eagerly awaited match-up between these sporting rivals from Australia and England is live and exclusive on ITV Box Office on February 4th, with many boxing fans feeling somewhat aggrieved to find they’ll have to pay to watch the fight. Nonetheless, the support and fan base of Eubank Jnr is on the rise fast and his association with ITV Boxing is an interesting alternative to the more seasoned route of Matchroom, Sky Sports and Eddie Hearn.
Quinlan won the title by knocking out former world champion Daniel Geale inside two rounds last year, but instead of making a first defence Down Under, he has chosen to travel thousands of miles to the UK to take on Eubank Jnr in a very admirable and sporting decision.
Of course, Quinlan is confident he can cause as upset and has predicted a late stoppage of the London born boxer, but in truth there is likely to be a considerable gulf in class between the pair. bet365 offer odds of 8/15 on Under 7.5 Rounds and given Eubank Jnr’s already solid TKO record and how quickly he is refining his power and style, it seems unlikely this bout will make it into the latter rounds.
