Newcastle United may be embroiled in a relegation battle this season, but in truth so is the entire bottom half of the Premier League, with just five points separating 11th and 18th at the moment. Bournemouth are in tenth and one point better off, and defeat to the Magpies on Saturday could set alarm bells ringing again. Excluding a ten game spell between October and December, Rafa Benitez has made Newcastle tough to beat, with only one defeat in their last seven games. After a stunning win over Manchester United two weeks ago, they will hope their fortunes can change permanently; winning would take them level on 31 points with Saturday’s opponents.

There are renewed question marks over Bournemouth after their 4-1 loss at Huddersfield, their first since before Christmas, but they have looked good over that spell, particularly at home. Victories over Everton and Arsenal, as well as a comprehensive win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, should stand them in good stead for this one.
As mentioned, both of these sides have looked good in recent weeks overall. Eddie Howe will demand a recovery after that awful display at Huddersfield. As concerned as they will be if a defeat occurs, they will also be confident of survival with victory, especially with Callum Wilson, our tip to score anytime, in such good form.
Newcastle’s season could turn after that win over Manchester United, but they have been picking up points in most games recently.
TAKE THIS FROM CORAL
Jermain Defoe remains out for Bournemouth with a serious injury, while Islam Slimani should be in line for his Newcastle debut after a thigh strain. There are no other issues on either side.
