After 259 days on the sidelines, Marco Reus made his long-awaited comeback for Borussia Dortmund last weekend with a start against Hamburg. For the most part, it looked as though he had never been away. Reus is still a bit away from being fully fit – only competitive matches will fix that – but should start again when Dortmund travel to face his old side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Reus didn’t play the full 2-0 win over Hamburg, manager Peter Stoger allowing fans the opportunity to give their hero a well-earned standing ovation. Already looking like an inspired piece of January business, Michy Batshuayi made it three goals in two starts with the opener before Mario Gotze capped the win with a goal in stoppage time.

With Europa League action against Atalanta prior to this trip, Stoger will be sure to rotate his squad. Reus has a terrific record against Gladbach, scoring five goals and providing five assists in just eight meetings. Gladbach are in terrible form, too, having lost their last three Bundesliga fixtures. They’re still only five points off the top four and could fancy their chances against a stretched Dortmund side. They haven’t beaten Dortmund since 2015 and will want revenge after Dortmund destroyed them in a 6-1 win back in December.
