Barcelona vs Real Betis preview, betting tips and prediction: Blaugrana to get back to winning ways against Betis
Barcelona and over 3.5 goals @ 6/5 with Ladbrokes
Espanyol got one up on their city rivals Barcelona when they ended the La Liga leader’s 29-game unbeaten run in the Copa Del Rey in midweek. A rare victory for the Periquitos but they’re only halfway there – and Barca have a comeback in them as Real Sociedad recently found out.
Barca remains the only side from Europe’s top five leagues to remain unbeaten in league competition despite La Real taking a two-goal lead in their clash last weekend.
While the magic of Lionel Messi, among others, got Barca out of a jam, it showed signs of fatigue. It’s a tough task that Real Betis have before them but they’ll relish the challenge. They’ve already scalped Real Madrid this season – although they’re in good company in that once-exclusive club – and have scored eight goals in their last two games. They’ve also conceded five goals in that space which points towards a goal-fest at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Betis have the fourth-best goal record in La Liga. Barca are first.
As ever, the main man behind Barca’s success is Lionel Messi. Directly involved in half of their 52 La Liga goals – 17 goals and nine assists – Messi was sublime again last weekend. However, one wonders if the revelations about his financial dealings could affect his form on the pitch. Der Spiegel reported details of the secret contract that Messi has with Barca and suggested that his charity was a money-laundering facade to make him richer. Heavy stuff. It turns out Messi and his entourage took the description ‘priceless’ as a challenge. Cue serious legal battles.

But maybe a missed penalty against Espanyol is just a typical Messi set-piece rather than a sign that the forward is distracted by matters off the pitch. Or maybe not.
