Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid preview, betting tips and prediction: make or break in La Liga title race at Camp Nou
Atletico Madrid double chance @ 21/20 with Coral
Barcelona host Atletico Madrid this weekend and all of the focus is going to be on one man: Antoine Griezmann. There are two reasons behind this. Most significantly, Griezmann is in the form of his life. He followed up a hat-trick against Sevilla with all the goals in a 4-0 win over Leganes in midweek. That’s seven goals in two games. Atletico fans were keen to point out that it was three more goals than Karim Benzema had scored since August.

The statistics don’t summarise how good Griezmann has been of late. The arrival of Diego Costa has given him a new lease of life. He also hit the post against Sevilla and set up a Koke goal with an outrageous backheel. Being able to do that in a clash with Barcelona is a different proposition. Plus, this game will see Griezmann facing what many suspects is his next club.
Rumours have been rife in recent weeks about Griezmann signing for Barcelona. Catalan media claim that a deal has been agreed behind the scenes for a summer transfer. Atletico deny that any such agreement is in place. It’s been strongly suspected for a while now that this will be Griezmann’s last season as an Atletico player. If he doesn’t move to Barcelona then it won’t be because he’s sticking around at the Wanda Metropolitano. Rather, Barcelona will have been gazumped.
At the time of writing, Barcelona are four points clear with a game in hand and will almost certainly win that game in hand at Las Palmas on Thursday night. An Atletico win would blow the title race open again and Los Rojiblancos are available at tempting odds.
