Arsenal have had something of a mixed season, but everything took a huge turn for the better last week with a victory over Tottenham at home in the North London Derby. It just goes to show that on the right day the Gunners can play anyone off the park, especially with a front three of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette combining as they did in that game. Their home record is fantastic, and the challenge Huddersfield will pose this week is a very different one to Spurs.
First off, Huddersfield will not press as high as Spurs. While this will make it easier to contain them, there will be no space for them to exploit with the counter attack high up the pitch that they used to great effectiveness. Huddersfield have not won away from home since August and they are unlikely to be overly expressive on Wednesday.
We are backing Arsenal to win comfortably, and Lacazette to continue his great form in front of his home fans.
Before Arsenal played Burnley, they lost in the Europa League to Koln, a side bottom of both their group and the Bundesliga. Most first team players were absent, but the Gunners have shown both the good and the bad of themselves this week. The 1-0 win at Turf Moor also shows the real need for all of Arsenal’s flair players to click, because breaking down a tight defence can be tough. No doubt Huddersfield will look to play a similar way to Sean Dyche’s men on Wednesday, but Arsenal do have the top four in their sights.
Like most newly-promoted sides, Huddersfield have done much better at home than they have away this season. In fact, their last away win was also their first in the top flight, against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend of the season. It is unlikely they will carry a huge threat, but their pace out wide, with Rajiv van la Parra and Tom Ince, is what they will try to utilise, especially with Arsenal’s wingbacks likely to leave spaces. Crucially, though, the Terriers must be brave if they are to get anything from this game.

Ozil is actually a doubt to face Huddersfield having sat out that late Burnley win, but Arsenal do not have too many injury issues coming into this game on Wednesday. Wenger will likely opt for Alex Iwobi if Ozil doesn’t make it, but most of the attacking responsibility will fall on Alexis Sanchez, who scored a dramatic penalty in stoppage time at the weekend.
DON’T FORGET TO BET!
The visitors shouldn’t have too many issues themselves. Laurent Depoitre could start up front to give them a physical presence, but the questions remain whether Wagner will change his system to help contain Arsenal.
