Can The Gunners give Wenger the perfect send off?

Arsene Wenger has announced he will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, almost 22 years after he first arrived in North London. His popularity with fans have wavered over recent years due to a lack of trophies and challenges for the Premier League title, but since the news came out, there has been an outpouring of fondness and respect. Whilst many believe he should have left a long time ago, there has been a collective call for people to reminisce about his early days as the Gunners boss.

This season has been a disappointment, with no Champions League qualification forthcoming via a top four finish; their only way through to Europe’s premier club competition is winning the Europa League. Suddenly, that has taken on extra importance, as it would be the perfect send off for Wenger. Atletico Madrid are their semi final opponents and, while it could be tough for them to progress, they will give it a good go and we think they could actually come out on top in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger has, understandably, been resting a number of his key players in the Premier League so he will play his strongest possible side on Thursday night. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible for this competition, but Alexandre Lacazette is in great form having scored three goals in his last two games. Backing him to score anytime is definitely a worthwhile bet at 7/4 with Coral. For Atleti, the obvious draw is Antoine Griezmann, who is 13/10 to score anytime.
