A Grade 1 winner of the Triumph Hurdle in 2014 the gelding has plenty of experience with 13 runs over hurdles and 16 over the bigger obstacles, including when winning the four mile JT McNamara National Hunt Chase at last year’s festival. The Gigginstown-owned horse has been brought along gently this season first over inadequately short trips at Wexford and Clonmel before given a trial run over Cheltenham’s Cross-Country course in December.
CORAL HAVE YOU COVERED
Beaten a good forty two lengths on that occasion Tiger Roll left that form well behind at the festival when trained to perfection by Elliott and justified good support in the hands of Keith Donoghue. Thirteen lengths behind was Grand National standing dish The Last Samuri who will meet the winner on 9lb worse terms at Aintree, putting in perspective just how well treated Tiger Roll could be for the extended 4m 2f marathon.
A Grade 1 winner, victorious over four mile, successful over Cheltenham’s unique cross-country course, possibly the best handicapped horse in the race and trained by the man of the moment, Tiger Roll ticks all of the Grand National boxes and more making his current odds of 25-1 looking like an early Christmas present.
