Zlatan Ibrahimovic SLAMS Cristiano Ronaldo For Juventus Move

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo’s claim that his summer move from Real Madrid is a challenge. The Portuguese superstar made the remarkable switch in an £80million deal after winning four Champions Leagues, one La Liga, and enduring football’s greatest individual rivalry with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo had spent nine years in Spain and enjoyed the best part of his career there. But it became clear that he would be leaving some time before he did, and he is now looking to conquer Europe with another club, and win another league in another country.

Juve, though, have won Serie A every season since 2011/12 and currently lead Napoli by 14 points. Some people think that Ibrahimovic has a point and Ronaldo should have given himself a bigger test as he edges closer to retirement.

The man himself has rejected the idea that the switch to Turin is an easy ride, and he has even challenged Messi to leave Barcelona, the club he has spent 17 years at, behind and make the switch to Italy so they can continue their intense on-pitch battles. Each player has won five Ballon d’Ors, but their duopoly was broken by Luka Modric last year.

“For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy,” he said. “I would like him to come to Italy one day. Like me, accept the challenge.”

But Zlatan, who is currently enjoying his final days as a player in MLS with LA Galaxy after a record breaking career in Europe with the likes of Ajax, Inter, Milan, Barcelona and of course Juve, has suggested there are plenty of options Ronaldo could have taken for a bigger challenge.

“I didn’t say his transfer wasn’t great,” Ibrahimovic said.

“I said that it wasn’t a challenge to join Juventus. It’s not a challenge to go to one of the best teams in the world. Maybe it depends on what you mean by challenge. For me, a challenge is joining a team and taking them far. That’s a challenge.

“In any case, it’s a great signing for Italian football because thanks to him, my second home of Serie A has grown.”

Ronaldo and Juve are among the favourites for the Champions League, but the Portuguese will be heading back to the Spanish capital to face Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
