Wolfsburg sign highly-rated Ajax youngster Riechedly BazoerPublished December 14, 2016
Wolfsburg have kicked off what’s set to be a busy transfer window for them by completing the signing of Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax. The highly-rated 20-year-old has reportedly signed for a bargain fee of €12 million. He signs a four and a half year deal with the club, expiring in June 2021.
The club currently dangle just above the relegation zone having picked up a measly ten points from 14 matches. VfL head-coach Valerién Ismaël said: “I know Riechedly Bazoer well and firmly believe in the quality he possesses. He suits our team perfectly and can help VfL get back on the right track.”
Bazoer is a defensive midfielder of very high quality. He’s fallen out of favour at Ajax because their current coach doesn’t believe he fits in their system. Relegated to the bench, he’s opted to leave. Although he’s hardly a like for like replacement for Julian Draxler, the reinforcement comes ahead of the anticipated exit of the Germany international.
