Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny couldn’t resist rubbing salt into Tottenham wounds after seeing his side advance to the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
The former Arsenal shot stopper watched from the bench – second choice to Gianluigi Buffon – as his old enemy fell apart by conceding two away goals in three minutes, allowing the Old Lady to snatch a 4-3 aggregate win.
Szczesny took to Instagram to post a celebration photo, adding the tongue-in-cheek caption: “Great win and celebrations vs one of the best teams in North London. FORZA JUVE!!! #northlondonisred”.
It gets better. Footage emerged after the game of Szczsny making a ‘chin up’ gesture to Spurs fans.
Arsenal fans will forever have a soft spot for the Polish goalkeeper.
It’s nice to see players keep affiliation with former clubs and offer gestures like the abuse as a form of communication with supporters. The Gunners out there need something to laugh at and what’s more is it comes at an costly expense for Spurs.
BETWAY HAVE YOU COVERED!
Oh, by the way, we ought to congratulate you on lasting longer in Europe than your North London rivals, albeit in a second-rate competition…
