Following Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal departure and a terrible World Cup campaign with Germany. Mesut Özil may feel like he has a point to prove.
Heading into his sixth season with the Gunners, his first under new boss Unai Emery, Özil is expected to be a central part of the team this season as they look to get back into the top four and the Champions League.
He may have his critics, many of whom forced him into international retirement recently, but Özil’s quality could not be doubted after a piece of skill against Cesc Fabregas in a recent pre-season friendly with Chelsea caught the eye.

It is fair to say Arsenal fans enjoyed their current hero showing up a former one.
Excellent touch from Ozil to take him away from Fabregas.

Great pass to Mkhitaryan. Mkhitaryan feeds the ball to Aubameyang followed by a Lukaku-esque touch.
Chance wasted.
