City maintained their eight point lead at the top of the Premier League by beating the Saints, with Sterling netting a stunning winner in stoppage time. It is the second game in which the England star has proven decisive, after he scored at Huddersfield on Sunday.

Mendy has been missing for much of this season after suffering the injury in the Champions League, but that didn’t stop him joining in the scenes as pandemonium hit the Etihad Stadium.
