VIDEO: Zaha scores sublime volley in Crystal Palace defeatPublished January 04, 2017
Wilfried Zaha struck a stunning volley during Tuesday night’s match between Crystal Palace and Swansea, but it was not enough to guide the hosts to victory as they slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park.
In front of the watching Paul Clement, who will soon replace the departed Bob Bradley as Swansea manager, the relegation strugglers took the lead just before half-time thanks to Alfie Mawson’s header.
With time ticking away, that looked to be that as far as the scoring was concerned, but then Tottenham-linked Zaha produced a moment of magic to draw Palace level.
Emulating Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Olivier Giroud, who have both netted stunning volleys in recent weeks, the winger met Martin Kelly’s under-hit cross and sent a precise volley into the corner of Lukasz Fabianski’s goal with less than 10 minutes on the clock.
This wasn’t to be enough, however, as substitute Angel Rangel’s late winner condemned Sam Allardyce’s team to their second defeat on the bounce.
