VIDEO: Senegal keeper produces comical moment in Algeria drawPublished January 24, 2017
Khadim Ndiaye has become the talk of social media after a bizarre incident in Senegal’s 2-2 AFCON draw with Algeria on Monday evening.
With the game poised at 2-2 heading into the final minute, the Lions of Teranga stopper appeared to purposely stage a comical fall, perhaps with the intention of seeing out the clock. Although Senegal were already qualified as Group B winners, opponents Algeria needed to a win to stand any chance of progressing.
A video sweeping the rounds on Twitter shows Ndiaye wearily stepping up to take a goal-kick, before dragging his trailing leg to trip his standing foot over.
He then collapsed needing treatment- much to the anger of the onlooking Algerian players.
Senegal saw out the match, with Algeria crashing out at the first hurdle following an immensely disappointing campaign.
On the pitch, a brace from Leicester City’s Islam Slimani was cancelled out by strikes from Papakouly Diop and Moussa Sow.
But the main talking point on social media after the match was Ndiaye’s memorable moment of madness, which has delighted and infuriated supporters in equal measure.
