VIDEO: Mourinho refuses to accept Hull City defeat in bizarre post-match interviewPublished January 27, 2017
Jose Mourinho is refusing to accept defeat in last night’s EFL Cup semi-final second-leg against Hull City.
Leading 2-0 from the Old Trafford first-leg, United suffered a 2-1 reversal at the hands of a spirited home side at the KCOM Stadium thanks to Oumar Niasse’s late winner.
However, controversy surrounded Hull’s opener, with Red Devils players angered by the award of a penalty for an alleged foul by Marcos Rojo on Harry Maguire.
And after the match, the Portuguese boss suggested that his side’s 17-game unbeaten run had not been broken because he did not count the hosts’ first goal.
“We didn’t lose. It was 1-1. 1-1. I only saw two goals: Pogba’s goal & their goal,” he said.
“Fantastic goal…great action, great cross and the guy at the far-post came in. 1-1, we’re still unbeaten.”
When asked why he had failed to mention Hull’s first goal, Mourinho was typically blunt in his response.
“I didn’t see,” he replied.
United will play Southampton in next month’s showpiece final at Wembley after the 3-2 aggregate win.
