VIDEO: Lionel Messi scores vs Gladbach after brilliant one-two with Arda TuranPublished December 07, 2016
Lionel Messi was at his brilliant best last night for Barcelona’s opener in their 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. The little magician linked up well with Arda Turan to score the archetypal Barcelona goal. It was the breakthrough after a period of sustained pressure from the home side.
The goal coming just after a quarter of an hour, it looked as though Messi had a record in his sights. Cristiano Ronaldo had set the record for most goals in a group stage with his eleven. Messi’s early goal brought him to ten. Could he overtake his great rival? No. Although that didn’t mean it was the end of the goal party.
Having already bagged an assist, Turan went on to grab a hat-trick. Messi had chances to add to his tally with one-way traffic throughout. Overall, it was a job well done for Barca. Top spot had already been confirmed before the game and this win ends a run of stuttering performances. Watch his goal below.
