VIDEO: Jurgen Klopp speaks about Liverpool's goalkeeping situationPublished December 16, 2016
Jurgen Klopp attempted to clear up Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation at his press conference on Friday. The German coach dropped first choice stopper Loris Karius in midweek after he was subjected to fierce criticism from prominent pundits within the game. Simon Mignolet took his place for the club’s 3-0 win at Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
Klopp had bad news for Karius, telling journalists: “I won’t change each week. Simon had a really good game. Loris can use the time in training with no pressure. I thought it made absolute sense. I saw it as a good decision for both (keepers). To take Loris out of the firing line.”
Was Klopp right to take Karius ‘out of the firing line’? Or did he prove the Neville brothers right only days after blasting them for their comments? Thanks to the pair, he had a very convenient excuse for dropping the newbie.
