VIDEO: Horrendous gaffe from Nancy keeper lets in Manchester United & Chelsea flop to scorePublished January 26, 2017
Radamel Falcao was the lucky beneficiary of an almighty goalkeeping clanger from Nancy’s Guy N’Dy Assembe, as Monaco scraped into the final of the Coupe de la Ligue last night.
With a tight game locked at 0-0, the 30-year-old Cameroonian’s moment of madness gifted ex-Manchester United and Chelsea striker Falcao what turned out to be the decisive goal in the French principality.
Just before half-time, an innocuous flick forward from Jemerson bounced through to Assembe, who proceeded to misjudge the trajectory of the ball and tip it back over his head towards goal.
The opportunity was gleefully gobbled up by Falcao, whose renaissance at the Stade Louis II continues. The headed effort was his 16th goal of a hugely successful season for club and player so far, with Monaco sitting two points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table and the Colombian currently third top scorer in France.
Monaco will now play holders Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the competition.
