VIDEO: Granit Xhaka talks about tough times at Gladbach and his career so farPublished December 14, 2016
It didn’t take long for Granit Xhaka to settle in at Arsenal. The Switzerland international quickly ingratiated himself to Gooners with goals in his first few weeks at the club. His all-action displays have earned him praise, particularly the full-blooded performance he gave in the North London derby earlier in the season. While his discipline could be improved, he’s been a smart addition.
He recently spoke to Arsenal’s YouTube channel about his career so far, to give fans a better idea of who their summer signing is. Coming from a football-mad family, the midfielder played for Basel with his brother Taulant. A teenage prodigy for the Swiss side, Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach came calling in 2012.
He admits that things didn’t go perfectly at first in Germany. Teammates didn’t like how outspoken he was, presumably resentful of the young star’s status within the team. But eventually, he won them over, proved his worth in the Bundesliga and earned a move to Arsenal. Watch his story in the video below.
