VIDEO: 17-year-old sensation Donnarumma saves third penalty of season as AC Milan produce stirring comeback against TorinoPublished January 17, 2017
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s penalty save from Adem Ljajic proved to be the catalyst as AC Milan mounted a second-half comeback to draw 2-2 against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Trailing 2-0 following goals from Andrea Belotti and Marco Benassi, the Rossoneri had the 17-year-old starlet to thank for keeping them in the game, as he produced a smart save to deny Serbian winger Ljajic. It was the Italian international’s second penalty stop of the season and means he is unbeaten from 12 yards in 2016/17.
That moment proved to be a turning point in the match for Vincenzo Montella’s men, as Andrea Bertolacci halved the deficit in the 55th minute and Colombian forward Carlos Bacca completed the turn-around on the hour mark via the second penalty of the match.
Despite Alessio Romagnoli’s late sending off, the visitors held firm for a vital point in the race for Champions League qualification.
The result moves Milan above city rivals Inter and into 5th in the table. They now sit just three points behind Lazio and have a game in hand on the capital club.
