'Unlucky': Liverpool midfielder taunts Everton fans on social media after derby victoryPublished December 21, 2016
Lucas Leiva has taken to social media to continue the celebration of Liverpool’s 1-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton on Monday night, trolling Blues supporters in a manner that has delighted fans of the Anfield club.
The Reds kept their feint title hopes alive thanks to Sadio Mane’s 95th minute winner at Goodison Park, closing to within six points of Premier League leaders Chelsea.
And buoyed by the dramatic late victory, squad joker Lucas reinforced his reputation as the team’s funny man with a series of provocative posts designed to wind up Everton fans.
The Merseyside Derby is always a scruff… But Klopp’s Liverpool came out on top with a winner at the death ? ? pic.twitter.com/Sp4BUKibvM— Freebets.co.uk (@freebetscouk) December 19, 2016
First, he posted an image of himself on Instagram with the caption: “Win the derby in the last minute, I have just one word to say: Unluckyyyy.”
But not content with that, the Brazilian fringe player delivered another cruel blow to Evertonians on Twitter.
He tweeted “unlucky” again to an Everton fan account that had written the following over matchwinner Mane over the summer: “And then you waste the same amount of money (£37.3m) on Sadio Mane…”
As the tweet has since been deleted, it can only be assumed that even Lucas himself thought the trolling attempt had gone a bit too far!
Leiva played the final minute of additional time in the game, replacing goalscorer Mane to help see out the victory.
