Two Arsenal XIs who could challenge for top four spot: Gunners now have real strength in depthPublished September 11, 2016
Whisper it quietly, keep it to yourself, but Arsenal may well now possess a squad that is capable of mounting a genuine Premier League title push.
Arsene Wenger brought in Shokdran Mustafi and Lucas Perez in the final days of the transfer window having already brought in Granit Xhaka, meaning the North London side have spent near £100m on new additions, a sum that is way and above what Gunners’ fans are used to.
Below we’ve collated two superb starting elevens made of Arsenal’s playing staff, including for the purposes of this article, those who have been loaned out, such as Jack Wilshere.
Arsenal’s 1st XI
Here we have what we deem as the strongest first XI where we opt for Aaron Ramsey in a wide role with Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla patroling the centre of the park.
Though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has started the season well, and Theo Walcott has been relatively consistent, we opt to leave both men out. The back-line now includes new signing Mustafi and offers a far stronger feel.
Arsenal 2nd XI
Even this second string includes a host of international talents and genuine top class players.
Four England international make it into this XI and new forward Lucas Perez gets pride of pleading this front-line whilst Per Mertesacker provide a real rock in front of David Ospina.
