Three players set to leave Manchester United this winterPublished December 20, 2016
Manchester United look like they’re on a roll and gunning for a place in the top four.
After Jose Mourinho saw his side get off to a shaky start in the Premier League this season, the Red Devils have pulled together and are now looking like they could get into the Champions League spots, but to do that Mourinho wants to strengthen his side this winter.
Of course, players coming in also means players have to leave, and Mourinho has a few names at the top of his list – and no, sadly for United fans, Wayne Rooney will still do pretty much nothing for his £300,000 per week – until the summer at least.
Rooney might be surviving the chop – for now – but there are at least three players who look set to depart.
The one the fans are desperate to see.
Mourinho has come to Fellaini’s defence time and time again, but deep down, even the United boss knows Fellaini isn’t someone he can rely on.
Several ‘top European clubs’ have reportedly been linked with Fellaini, and while most United fans probably think more fool them, they’d pack Fellaini’s bags and carry him on their own back to his new destination if they could.
Cast out by Mourinho, Basti has managed to get a few minutes of action and is training with the first team again, but that seems more down to injuries suffered by United and wanting to put him in the shop window.
Mourinho seems desperate to get rid of the fan favourite, but it looks like the German is content to sit on his contract, at least until the end of the season – and who would blame him?
To say outcast doesn’t quite cover it for the winger.
Depay has never managed to impress at Old Trafford has he, and spends more of his time on Instagram posting pictures of his dog Simba, or of himself working out.
That’s not to say he’s without talent – he does have it, it’s just United fans haven’t actually seen any of it sadly for them.
There doesn’t seem to be a place for him in Jose Mourinho’s side, and it seems a move is on the cards this winter, which will free up squad space and also save United some money on wages.
Everton have been linked with Depay, but a move abroad, even on loan, seems a more realistic shout.
