Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after agreeing terms with the Belgium international.
Courtois has been far from committal when asked about his future at Stamford Bridge, refusing to deny that a move to Real would suit him for family reasons.
Having spent three years on loan across the Spanish capital at Atletico Madrid, he met a girl and started a family, which is still based there.
Los Blancos have been linked with a goalkeeper for years, having attempted to sign David De Gea from Manchester United, but they appear to have got their man with the player agreeing to the move.
Thibaut Courtois will be announced as a Real Madrid player in the coming days after a €35M fee was agreed. The Belgian goalkeeper's contract at Chelsea expires at the end of this season, so they are eager to cash in now to avoid losing him for nothing next summer. pic.twitter.com/dN0KlxhWQM— Transfer News (@TransfersLlVE) July 18, 2018
The 26-year-old will cost the Spanish giants £35million due to his contract at Stamford Bridge running down in a year. That would make him the joint-second most expensive goalkeeper of all time behind Alisson, who joined Liverpool from Roma earlier in the season.
