Superstar Striker Wants Real Madrid Move, Says International Boss

Inter captain Mauro Icardi is keen on a move to Real Madrid in the summer, according to Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli.

Icardi, 24, is a controversial character but has a superb goalscoring record at San Siro, having netted 89 goals in 147 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri. He has not always been popular there, though, having criticised the fans in his autobiography.

Despite everything, as well as links to the Premier League, the striker has always insisted he wants to stay in Milan. But Sampaoli says he has his eyes on a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

He told Spanish newspaper AS: “I told Icardi what I told everyone: don’t stop working hard and, if you’re still playing well, you’ll be selected (for the World Cup squad)”.

“Icardi is being observed by, and is keen on, Real Madrid.”
