Six Possible Massive January Transfers: Man United, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool set for big deals
We are hours away from the re-opening the of the transfer window and it looks likely to be a more active January period than most seasons with a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ seemingly keen to splash the cash.
Here are six deals that look to be a decent bet for completion next month.
Victor Lindelof – (Benfica to Man United) £50m
The impressive Swedish international is all but a Man United player by all accounts though it’s a deal that will cost the Old Trafford side a massive sum.
£50m seems a steep price to pay for a player who has managed just 30 top flight appearances but perhaps Zlatan Ibrahimovic has convinced Jose Mourinho that his fellow countryman is worth the fee.
James Rodriguez – (Real Madrid to Chelsea) £70m
The Colombian is wasting away on the Bernabeu bench but won’t come cheap. the BBC claiming a fee of £70m will be needed to land the South American.
Will the former AS Monaco and FC Porto man just be swapping one bench for another? Given just how well Antonio Conte’s side are playing right now one has to wonder if such a move is necessary.
Ross Barkley (Everton to Tottenham) £35m
The England international has been considered the ‘next big thing’ for seasons but is certainly not delivering on that supposed potential, however a move to White Hart Lane could get the midfielder’s career back on track.
Mauricio Pochettino may see Barkley as a long-term prospect but again it may be tough to find room for the Toffees man in the Tottenham starting eleven.
Dimtri Payet (West Ham to Arsenal) £35m
The 29-year-old French international has seen his Hammers side struggle this term and the Euro 2016 star is looking for a high-profile transfer and Arsenal will apparently battle Man United to sign the cultured attacker.
Whilst it’s true Arsene Wenger has a fair few similar talents Payet is a game changer and the type of direct attacking talent who could spark life into the Gunners’ ahead of the second half of the season.
Moussa Dembele (Celtic to Liverpool) £20m
The young forward has proven an instant hit since moving to Scotland and is now a Jurgen Klopp target, perhaps seen as a direct replacement for Daniel Sturridge, the England man no doubt sick of warming the bench.
Dembele has bagged 18 goals in all competitions but it’s perhaps his exploits in Champions League action that has attracted most interest.
Marco Verratti (PSG to Chelsea) £40m
The Italian central midfielder is perhaps seen by Conte as a strong additional option, though clearly N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic have formed an excellent pairing this term, and the PSG man is ready to leave the Parc des Princes for pastures new.
PSG are down in third spot in Ligue 1 and Verratti could well be tempted by a move to West London, perhaps one of the only sides who can match the salary the former Pescara man earns in the French capital.
