After signing Lindelof, Man United will spend £142m on three playersPublished December 21, 2016
Victor Lindelof to Manchester United is a done deal.
The defender will leave Benfica in January in a £38 million deal. But that won’t be the end of the spending by any means. The Telegraph reports that United have backed Jose Mourinho fully in the transfer market and are preparing to hand him a further £142m to spend on three players over the next two transfer windows.
The biggest target of Mourinho’s United revolution is Antoine Griezmann. With Diego Simeone set to leave the club soon, Atletico Madrid will struggle to hold on to their biggest stars. The biggest vulture circling over Griezmann is United. They’re prepared to trigger his £84m release clause to pair him up with his best friend Paul Pogba.
He’s a truly world class forward.
The other two players have much smaller profiles but could be just as crucial when it comes to completing the United jigsaw. Tiemoue Bakayoko is a 22-year-old screening midfielder who plays for Monaco. A £35m target who will replace Michael Carrick. Benfica will be hearing from Mourinho again in the summer when he attempts to sign their pacy right-back Nelson Semedo for £25m.
