Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos has leapt to the defence of boss Zinedine Zidane after a thinly-veiled dig from Isco.
Ramos and Isco missed the team’s final training session this morning prior to Las Palmas’ match tomorrow. Ramos and Isco are expected to join Ronaldo (rested) and Carvajal (sanctioned) in staying in Madrid. Theo, Llorente, Benzema, Marco, Bale and Casilla will all start. The playmaker, who scored a hat-trick for Spain against Argentina in midweek, said he feels better playing for Spain than Real because he feels he has the confidence of Julen Lopetegui.
“I want to show that I’m a good player,” Isco said via Marca. “Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me.
“In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs. Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”
Ramos said he believed in Isco’s quality, but insisted Zidane has not frozen him out at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“I do not know if he has expressed himself badly, I have not listened to him, but Isco is a great player and both Zizou and Lopetegui have trusted and trust him, for me, he is a very important player in Madrid and the National Team.”
